Happy MANI Monday!
A few weeks ago, there was a Ladies of London marathon on Bravo that I found myself binge watching.
Of course with any show, the first thing I notice is nail polish colors the ladies are wearing. There were a couple that really struck my eye that cast member Caroline Stanbury wore throughout the season.
There were a beautiful teal and a magenta color.
I immediately went on the hunt for the polishes, googling everything you could imagine hoping that something would pop up online as to what brand and color she was wearing, as well as scrolling through her entire instgram page hoping she posted a nail picture of the name (sorry Caroline!)
Finally, with no luck I decided I had nothing to lose and messaged her myself, thinking there is no way she would actually respond back….buuuut she did! I couldn’t believe it; she was so nice and gave me the answer I was looking for.
The sought after polishes were Yves Saint Laurent 36 Vert D’Orient and 14 Violine Surrealiste. The very next day I was on my way to Nordstrom to purchase these gorgeous colors.
I will say, I had not tried Yves Saint Laurent nail polishes prior to these two. They are a tad pricey- retailing at $25.00. However, after purchasing the two and wearing them, I think I have a new favorite nail brand.
Let’s begin with the review!
First of all, the brush on these are by far the best brush I have ever used! It’s a dense brush, a little shorter than an Essie brush (which tends to be longer). The brush is also a little flat, so when you are applying the color to your nail, it goes on flawlessly.
Also, both colors are extremely opaque. You could put one coat on and you would be fine. It also dries without any streaks. A dream polish! <3
36 Vert D’Orient
36 Vert D’Orient is a beautiful teal. I believe this color would flatter any skin tone.
14 Violine Surrealiste
This is a fairly new top coat from Essie, I’m pretty sure it’s only been out a year.
It’s described on essie’s website as a “go-getter shine that works as hard as they do. essie gel•sette tops any of your favorite essie colors with all the cushy, rock-hard shine of a gel, in a foolproof formula for at home manis and pedis”.
So far, I’ve repurchased this top coat twice. It really gives the same results as a gel manicure would. I sometimes find the application a bit finicky. It doesn’t apply as well as Inm or the next top coat I’m going to talk about, but the wear is worth the extra work you may have to use to apply this top coat.
Also, yes these are must have spring and summer colors but you could easily get away with wearing these in the fall and winter. They are just classics.
To conclude, I am a huge fan of this brand. Yes, it is more expensive then some but I can say with Yves Saint Laurent, you are paying for quality and not just the name. This is hands down the best polish, from color to brush to application that I have tried and if you can splurge every once in a while on a nail color, splurge on Yves Saint Laurent!
